[3 min watch] How to support patients through a primary care surgical procedure
Posted on by Abbie Shortt
In this short video, Dr Peter Grossberg takes us through his top three tips to support patients through a surgical procedure in the primary care setting:
- Explain to the patient what you are going to do;
- Have the patient lie down; and
- Be realistic about how much pain or discomfort they might experience.
Dr Grossberg also provides further advice for how to manage surgical procedures on children and elderly patients in primary care, including whether you need a guardian or escort present.
A common issue with in-office procedures is patient anxiety. Dr Grossberg explains how you can support your patients through their anxiety and demonstrate confidence in your abilities.
